Welcome to The BonteKids, a cornerstone program within Shaylex Community Projects dedicated to nurturing young minds through literacy and nourishment. In a community where up to 80% of children struggle with basic reading skills, The BonteKids strives to make a difference.

Our Reading Room: A Safe Haven for Learning

At Bontekids, we've created a safe haven for approximately 40 children in Bonteheuwel. After school, they gather in our reading room, where they receive vital reading skills and a hearty meal each day. Though we currently fund this initiative primarily from our own pockets and modest donations from loved ones, the impact is immeasurable.

Nourishment for Learning: Fueling Success

We firmly believe that a hungry child cannot learn effectively. That's why, alongside our reading sessions, we provide nutritious meals to every child. By ensuring they have the energy and focus necessary to absorb knowledge, we've witnessed remarkable improvements in academic performance and overall well-being.
