📚 Join Us in Changing a Child’s World - One Page at a Time

At Shaylex Community Projects, we believe that literacy is the first step toward freedom. In our Bontekids reading program, situated in the heart of Bonteheuwel, children gather three times a week not only to read—but to dream, discover, and grow.

We’re looking for passionate volunteers who are willing to sit with a small group of children, help them sound out words, and open their minds to new worlds through books.

📖 What You’ll Do

• Read with small groups of children aged 5 to 15

• Help build their reading confidence and comprehension

• Share your love for stories and learning

• Join a joyful, safe, and supportive space where kids also receive a warm meal

🕒 Our Schedule

We meet three times a week for 1 hour and 30 minutes.
You can join one session—or all. Every moment counts.

We do ask for a minimum commitment of three months, as consistency makes a lasting impact on our kids.
That said, we’re happy to work around your availability and personal goals—whether you're a student, professional, retiree, or someone simply called to give back.
